How do you calculate the cost of my home?

There are so many variables that make it extremely difficult to give a generic per-square-foot price. We’ve had clients select tile from Italy and fly it in, and other clients who chose locally sourced products; both choices have a profound impact on the cost of a home.

We need 3 things before we can give you an accurate cost:

  1. Logistics of where the home is being built

  2. Completed set of construction drawings

  3. Your material selections (i.e. tile, appliances, trim)

Do you charge change order fees?

No. We expect there will be changes along the way as this home has never been built before. The only cost is that of the material and labor to make the change.

What if something is done incorrectly?

We do everything we can to make sure your home, or renovation is perfect, but sometimes even when using best construction practices, things can arise. If something does happen, we will always do the right thing for our clients.

What is the warranty on my Carson Built Home?

Every project we build comes with 1-, 2-, 5- and 10-year warranties.

  • 1-year labour and materials warranty: Your home is covered against any defects in the materials used in the house, or how the house was constructed. This covers things like fixtures and baseboards.

  • 2-year distribution systems warranty: This covers any defects found in materials, or labour, related to your home’s heating, plumbing or electrical systems.

  • 5-year building envelope warranty: This covers you against any defects in your home’s “building envelope.” This is essentially the shell of your house – the system of components that separate the controlled interior air from the exterior. This includes wall framing, roofing, windows and insulation.

  • 10-year structural integrity warranty: This covers the defects in the key structural components of your new estate home. Any defects that could result in the failure of a load-bearing part of the home or cause structural damage. These are the types of defects that could impact your ability to safely use your home and are generally the most expensive types of repairs as they have the most impact on the home’s safety.

How long will it take, start to finish, to build my home?

How long is a piece of string? Depending on the size and level of complexity and the availability of materials, it can take 1 to 2 years from first shovel in the ground to the day you get possession. Talk to us and we can give you a more detailed idea.
